Effects of Stress in the workplace

Massage is one of the most effective, convenient & relaxing ways to combat work related stress.

Stress is our body’s natural response to being under pressure and while a small level of stress can be a positive thing and helps to keep us motivated, excessive pressure causes our body to react with a series of negative symptoms which often affect our physical and mental health.

Stress can have a detrimental effect on both the employee and on the organisation he / she works for:

The detrimental effects of stress on employees:

  • High blood pressure

  • Insomnia

  • Allergies

  • IBS (irritable bowel syndrome)

  • Migraines

  • Fatigue

  • Loss of concentration

  • Ulcers

  • Poor digestion

  • weakened immune system, therefore more prone to infections such as colds & flu

The detrimental effects of stress on an organisation:

  • Reduction in performance and productivity
  • Increase in absence due to stress related illness
  • High turn over of staff
  • Less commitment from staff towards the employer
  • Increase in accidents at work
  • Increase level of long term sick, leading to possible compensation claims
  • Reduction in customer service levels
  • Overall drop in margins due to all of the above

By providing massage treatments for staff from the comfort of the office, employers will be taking a positive and pro-active step towards reducing work related stress in their company and maximising the potential of their workers. This in turn will increase job satisfaction, commitment to work, loyalty and boost the morale of employees.

The Treatment

I offer 15 – 20 minute massage treatments to employees at the work place, focussing on the areas most affected by stress and tension such as the shoulders, upper back, neck, head, arms & hands.  Swedish massage techniques and acupressure are used to ease tension, relax tight muscles, calm the mind and increase the circulation to key muscle groups, leaving the employee feeling relaxed & revitalized. Each treatment will be tailor made to suit each individual’s requirements.

The massage is given while sitting comfortably in a low-backed chair, with the individual fully clothed.  This makes the massage highly convenient and suitable for an office environment as there is no need for clothing removal or for a massage table or oils to be used. The massage can be given in a private room or in a quiet corner of a communal office space.

Unlike other forms of stress management the positive effects of massage are felt immediately.

Price List: £50 per hour (minimum of 2 hours).

No equipment need be provided – I can bring my own suitable chair to the office.
